Introduction

The application of electrical energy cannot be separated from the support of electrical operating equipment, which is also key to the normal operation of the power grid. In power grid systems, if various power supply devices fail to operate effectively, the reliability of the grid and the quality of power supply will be significantly reduced, causing serious economic losses to power supply companies. Therefore, daily maintenance and management are necessary. Routine inspection and maintenance of electrical equipment can quickly eliminate potential quality hazards, ensure safe and stable operation, extend the service life of electrical equipment, and reduce equipment replacement costs for enterprises.

I. Daily Maintenance and Care of Electrical Operating Equipment

In power operation systems, many components play important roles, and transformers are among the most critical. Transformers are often considered the core of electrical operating equipment. Therefore, maintaining transformer equipment is essential to promote its stability and safety. Proper transformer maintenance should focus on the following aspects:

1. Oil Temperature Testing

This is the first step in transformer maintenance. The oil surface thermometer is commonly used for this test. Adjust the thermometer to monitor the oil temperature at the top of the transformer. During inspection, ensure that the oil temperature reading remains within the normal range.

2. Maintenance of Transformer Moisture Absorbers and Gas Relays

Moisture absorbers and gas relays are important components during transformer operation. They help remove impurities from the air and moisture, protecting the transformer's insulation. The moisture absorber uses transformer silica gel. When the silica gel changes color from blue to red, it indicates moisture absorption. Therefore, the silica gel should be replaced regularly to maintain effective moisture absorption.

3. Maintenance of High-Voltage and Low-Voltage Distribution Equipment

High-voltage and low-voltage distribution equipment includes a wide variety of electrical devices. Maintenance of this equipment must be carried out according to the specific conditions of each device. Key tasks include:

  • Regularly inspecting distribution cabinets, transformers, and other equipment to ensure normal operation.

  • Paying attention to the environment during equipment maintenance – the space should be sealed, dry, and well-ventilated.

  • Strengthening inspections during summer, because current peaks are more likely to occur in summer, which can easily cause faults in high- and low-voltage distribution equipment.

II. The Necessity of Daily Maintenance and Care of Power Equipment

As China’s economy continues to improve, the demand for electricity from social production and daily life has grown significantly. With more and more devices powered by electricity, electrical energy is closely linked to the life and production of society. Therefore, the stability of power equipment operation has attracted widespread attention. However, due to many uncertainties in the allocation of power resources, once electrical operating equipment fails, large-scale normal power supply cannot be provided. This would cause huge losses to social production and affect people’s lives. To ensure stable and reliable operation of the power grid, reduce safety accidents, promote stable and reliable operation of the power system, guarantee stable power supply, and meet the needs of social production and people’s daily lives, daily maintenance of electrical equipment is essential.

III. Existing Problems in the Daily Maintenance and Care of Electrical Equipment

Daily maintenance of electrical equipment is critical to corporate interests and normal equipment operation. Only by identifying the main causes can practical problems be effectively solved. Solutions should be proposed based on the normal operating conditions of the equipment to avoid blind corrections that may worsen problems. Improving maintenance levels supports the normal operation of electrical equipment and provides greater support for technological innovation.

1. Unclear Maintenance and Care Schedules

Unclear maintenance schedules have become a major issue in the daily inspection and maintenance of power operating equipment. This mainly refers to the lack of a clear system regarding the relationship between maintenance dates and maintenance frequency. In addition, inspections are not carried out according to specified trial periods, leading to a series of problems. Many companies are somewhat lax in this regard. Although clear schedules may exist, the lack of strict management causes many people to ignore these issues during daily maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, handling them arbitrarily.

2. Lack of Relevant Professional Technical Personnel

When arranging personnel for maintenance and care work, professional technicians are often not selected for repair and maintenance. Equipment use and maintenance are actually two different things. Some people may make adjustments to the normal use of equipment. Others may have some ideas for improving and innovating equipment, but they are impatient with daily maintenance and lack professional technical skills. Such people often cannot perform well. Therefore, when analyzing the technical level of maintenance personnel, their willingness and attitude must also be considered.

3. Lack of a Reasonable Maintenance System

Daily maintenance of electrical equipment requires regular handling. A reasonable maintenance system must be established based on operation frequency and labor intensity, enabling personnel to conduct regular inspections, identify problems, and solve them in a timely manner. With equipment monitoring processes, manual handling can provide double protection to avoid serious problems. Through normal maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, equipment testing takes time. Although simple instrument measurements may not detect all problems, in order to better solve practical problems, testing and discovering potential issues that may arise during long-term operation – such as bus connections, working pressure, working temperature, and instability – also requires significant time.

IV. Effective Strategies for Daily Maintenance of Power Operating Equipment

1. Strengthen Management of Power Personnel

The main body of daily inspection and maintenance of power equipment is the power equipment management personnel. Therefore, improving the professional quality of power equipment managers plays an important role in the maintenance of power equipment. Power supply companies should build a high-quality power equipment management team, train power equipment management personnel, improve their professional skills, enable timely detection of problems in power equipment operation, and ensure stable and reliable equipment operation.

2. Perform Anti-Corrosion Work on Electrical Equipment

In the process of electrical equipment maintenance, anti-corrosion work has always been a top priority. Key points include:

  • Conductive contacts exposed directly to air can be coated with power compound grease to prevent oxidation compounds.

  • The choice of grounding grid material is crucial – galvanized steel can be used, or anti-corrosion materials can be directly coated on flat iron.

3. Prepare Emergency Response for Equipment Operation Failures

It is necessary to fully understand the working characteristics of various types of equipment, predict the possibility of operation failures in advance, and promptly prevent the impact of accidents. Markings should be made on distribution lines to facilitate investigation in case of failure. At the same time, organize experts to inspect power equipment, strengthen management, inspect and maintain power equipment, record the specific usage of accessories, and manage equipment maintenance and care properly.

4. Strengthen Daily Cleaning of Equipment

Timely elimination of safety hazards is essential. For electrical operating equipment that works outdoors for long periods, strengthening daily cleaning is very necessary. For cleaning electrical equipment, appropriate chemicals should be selected according to the technical requirements of the equipment. Lack of water during cleaning not only reduces the cleaning effect but may also corrode electrical equipment and affect its performance. Using specific agents can achieve good decontamination effects without damaging electrical equipment and can effectively prevent flashover problems. To effectively reduce cleaning work, some electrical companies cover electromagnetic surfaces with silicone to automatically absorb stains. However, the coating is effective for only three years and should be replaced in time.

5. Prevent Moisture to Ensure Normal Operation of Electrical Equipment

For high-voltage distribution rooms, the following measures should be taken to ensure moisture-proof performance:

  1. Install industrial dehumidifiers – Properly sized according to room dimensions and power ratio, helping to remove humid air from the room.

  2. Seal switch openings and cable trenches – Cable trenches in high-voltage distribution rooms must be sealed. Also seal the cable openings of distribution cabinets to prevent moisture from affecting the opening and closing of high-voltage spaces.

  3. Inspect the roof slab of the high-voltage distribution room – Check in detail and promptly repair any leaks. In addition, do not apply lime to the ceiling of the high-voltage distribution room. In humid conditions, lime can fall off and have a very negative impact on the equipment.

Conclusion

In summary, power operating devices are the foundation for realizing electrical energy and the basic guarantee for safe and reliable power distribution. This reflects that the operation quality of power equipment is closely related to people’s production and life. Therefore, daily maintenance and inspection of power equipment must be strengthened. When performing maintenance work, it is necessary to strictly follow the specifications according to the characteristics of the equipment. At the same time, during equipment maintenance, accurately analyze the operating status of the equipment, promptly eliminate potential safety hazards, and ensure that the equipment remains in optimal operating condition.
